Dancing with the Vernon Stars Continues!
North Okanagan Hospice Society’s signature event will celebrate its 13th year in 2020
Vernon, BC (December 5, 2019) – North Okanagan Hospice Society (NOHS) is pleased to announce that it will host its 13th annual Dancing with the Vernon Stars presented by Lake City Casinos Vernon on September 25, 2020 at the Prestige Vernon Lodge and Conference Centre.
In 2007, local dance instructors, Lorna Robb and Ruth Blencoe, brought the prospective fundraiser of Dancing with the Vernon Stars to the Society. The organization and the community embraced the idea of an evening of dance, music and philanthropy and it has been a positive means of pairing professional dance instructors with local citizens who want to put on their dancing shoes and raise funds for a great cause.
“Over the past twelve years, the Society has welcomed dancers, coaches, sponsors, vendors, and many patrons to the event,” shares Ruth Edwards, Executive Director. “They have shown tremendous community spirit and generosity and we sincerely thank everyone for their participation, creativity and enthusiasm and for their support for those who are at end-of-life. We look forward to another exciting event next year.”
NOHS currently has five dance teams participating in Dancing with the Vernon Stars 2020 however more teams are needed. Any variety of duos are welcome to enter. Whether they want to learn ballroom, Broadway, hip-hop, country or classical styles of dance, the coaches will specifically tailor a routine to their ability.
For anyone who would be interested in sponsorship opportunities or dancing and fundraising for Hospice through this event, please contact Gina Watson at email: [email protected] for more details.
