13th Annual Dancing with the Vernon Stars Call for Dancers
North Okanagan Hospice Society’s signature event is looking for more dance teams
Vernon, BC (January 20, 2020): Have you always wanted to dance AND support a local charity? The North Okanagan Hospice Society (NOHS) is looking for dancers to take part in their largest annual fundraiser gala and auction, Dancing with the Vernon Stars (DWTVS), which will take place on Friday, September 25, 2020 at the Prestige Vernon Lodge and Conference Centre.
This successful event, presented by Lake City Casinos Vernon, pairs professional dance instructors with local citizens who want to step up to help raise funds for Hospice House plus put on their dancing shoes for a great cause.
NOHS currently has four dance teams participating in DWTVS 2020 however, six more couples are needed. Any variety of duos are welcome to enter. Whether they want to learn ballroom, Broadway, hip-hop, country or classical styles of dance, the coaches will specifically tailor a routine to their ability.
“Dancing with the Vernon Stars is an unforgettable fundraising event that promises to be a night to remember. We are seeking more dance duos to step up and become a part of this incredible benefit for Hospice and who will show us their very best dance moves this September. Over the past 12 years, the dance routines have been as diverse as the personalities performing and 2020 will be no different,” says Ruth Edwards, Executive Director, NOHS. “The pair with the most number of votes takes home the trophy—and the bragging rights that go with it—all with the knowledge they have helped to raise much needed funds for our programs and services.”
With assistance from the event staff, teams are asked to fundraise a minimum of $5,000 prior to the September 25th gala through their own individual activities in their communities. They will also attend a special “Launch Party” this April. Dancers will get to meet each other along with the coaches and judges, share fundraising ideas and have their individual photo and video shoots done to help develop promotional material for the event.
For anyone who would be interested in sponsorship opportunities or dancing and fundraising for Hospice through this event, please contact Gina Watson at email: [email protected] for more details.
